TRAFFIC ALERT: I-10 eastbound at U.S. 301 likely closed all day - WJXT News4JAX

A five-vehicle crash that injured three people -- one seriously -- early Monday on U.S. 301 at Interstate 10 damaged the road and may keep the eastbound lanes of the highway closed until the evening.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a westbound tractor-trailer filed to navigate a turn, crashed through a concrete barrier and cross into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a van and a pickup truck as it overturned on the highway. Flying debris from the crash struct two additional eastbound vehicles.

The driver of the big and two other drivers were injured -- a 32-year-old man from Jacksonville seriously.

News4Jax was told three rescue units and an additional fire engine were called to the scene.

The Florida Department of Transportation said crews are working to remove the overturned truck, but damage to the roadway will need to be repaired before I-10 can reopen.

“It is expected this work may not be completed until tonight,” FDOT tweeted at 11:05 a.m.
