James Merlino says Jacinta Allan won't need any advice if she is elected as deputy premier of Victoria by the Labor caucus tomorrow.
"JA will be an outstanding deputy premier and she has my absolute, full backing and support," he said.
Allan has previously served as acting premier.
"I know she'll get the support of caucus," Merlino said - before hastily catching himself and saying, "It's up to caucus."
Allan said she was "humbled" by the support of her colleagues. She is set to remain in her role as Transport Minister.
