Pokémon Go is hosting its Oshawott Community Day, which will take place on Sept. 19, 2021. Our Pokémon Go Oshawott Community Day guide includes all of Oshawott’s Community Day’s perks, the exclusive move Oshawott’s evolution learns, and the ways to make the most of your Community Day.

The usual Community Day perks, like increased spawn and Shiny rate, will be active on Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time.

How do I find a Shiny Oshawott?

Community Day events have a heightened Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon, so if you’re playing, you should be able to find several Shiny Oshawott.

If you don’t have time to play all day, you can find a Shiny Oshawott by popping an Incense, and tapping each Oshawott that pops up. The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 in 25, according to The Silph Road’s research, so you should find a Shiny Oshawott quickly.

What Community Day move does Oshawott’s evolution learn?

When evolved any time on Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. EDT, your Oshawott evolution will learn Hydro Cannon, a very powerful water-type move.

Based on past years, if you miss the Community Day period, you’ll likely be able to evolve your Oshawott during the December Community Weekend event to get its move. You can also use an Elite TM to teach legacy Community Day-only moves.

How does Samurott do in battle?

In PvE content, Samurott does fairly well, alongside the other water-type starter Pokémon. For raids and gyms, set it up with Waterfall and Hydro Cannon.

In PvP, Samurott is fine but not ideal. You can set it up with Fury Cutter with Megahorn and Hydro Cannon if you really want to use it.

How do I make the most of Oshawott Community Day?

Any XP gained from catching Pokémon will be tripled, so if you’re going to be out catching a lot of Pokémon, you should consider using a Lucky Egg to boost that XP even further. Incense used during the event will also last a whopping three hours, so you should use one (if you have one) to increase your Oshawott spawns further.
