A man has been charged with two counts of murder after a couple were found dead in an inner-Sydney boarding house at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Cleveland Street, Redfern, shortly before midnight on Saturday and found the bodies of Steven Finlay, 52, and his partner Mitch Watson, 32.
Police had been responding to a concern for welfare report.
Strike Force Menlow, comprising south Sydney and homicide squad detectives, was established to investigate the deaths.
About 3.30pm on Monday, a 41-year-old man was arrested at a unit on Cleveland Street and taken to Mascot police station where he was charged with two counts of murder.
Police will allege in court the men were known to each other and lived in the same boarding house.
A number of items were seized from the premises for forensic examination.
The 41-year-old man was refused police bail and is due to face Central Local Court on Tuesday.
