The Liberal Party has extended its deadline for candidates to nominate for Warringah from December 3 to January 14, partly to allow Ms Berejiklian time to consider her options.
When asked about Ms Berejiklian's possible move to federal politics, Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave the former premier a ringing endorsement, saying she would make a "great candidate for Warringah".
Independent MP Zali Steggall currently holds the seat, after ousting former prime minister Tony Abbott from what has traditionally been a Liberal stronghold.
Liberal Party federal vice-president Teena McQueen told 2GB's Ben Fordham that a return to parliament so soon could be tricky for Ms Berejiklian but "in politics, anything is possible".
"I think it's probably a bit difficult before a judgement is handed down, we must be respectful of ICAC … but we keep all options open.
"I think keeping the nominations open gives every possible candidate a chance to think and consider to stand for Warringah, including Gladys."
ICAC's findings will not be made public before preselection nominations close on January 14, but submissions from counsel assisting are due by December 20, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The submissions are likely to give Ms Berejiklian a clearer idea of what the outcome of the investigation will be.
Meanwhile, ABC personality Tom Gleeson this morning announced he will be running as an independent candidate for Warringah. Gleeson is the host of the TV program Hard Quiz.
