The Wine Guy offers up three bottles of rosé that are ready for your wine glass

I know, I know, “Rosé all day” is old news. The slogan-cum-hashtag is so 2016. Heck, there’s even a wine called Rosé All Day!

And yet I hope the trend and interest in rosé never again goes away, because the “Gatorade of the Hamptons” really is the appropriate wine for occasions throughout the day. Brunch wine? Check. Al fresco lunch sipper? Check. Easygoing everyday partner for grilled dinner? You bet.

I’ll keep swirling rosé even after all the cherry blossoms have blown to the ground, but while they’re still around here are three more rosés ready for your wine glass.

Bartier Bros. 2020 Rosé, British Columbia ($17.99, #35609)

This enticing pale pink wine is an aromatic bomb! Exuberant red berry, melon, and rhubarb aromas jump out of the glass in this gregarious rosé. Interestingly, the winery leans to Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer for the foundation of their pink wine, with a dollop of Merlot added to the mix — and adding pink colour, the actual blend is 56/42/6. Smooth and fairly robust, the mid-palate gives off watermelon Jolly Rancher vibes before a fresh and fruity finish. Pair with a sunset and pretty much anything, from charcuterie to tacos.

Bottom line: A-, Rosé all-rounder

Château de la Liquière 2019 Les Armaandiers Rosé, France (around $37, limited availability)

Back in the day, before the “rosé all day” hype, pink wine was all about French rosé (well to be fair, credit is also due to Spanish rosados and Italian rosas). Nowadays you’ll find French rosé in a myriad of styles and price points, and while I would certainly never shy from a glass of straight-up, crisp and cool rosé (preferably served pool- or patio-side), I recently came across an intriguing and complex French pink wine from Languedoc’s Château de la Liquière. Certified Agriculture Biologique (organic), this classic southern French blend of Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Grenache is lithe but robust, floral, and mineral-toned.

Bottom line: A-, Perfect picnic wine!

Bottega Rose Gold Rosé Brut, Italy ($31.99, #223669)

Don’t forget rosé with bubbles. Sparkling rosé is perhaps the most apropos “rosé all day” option. It screams fun — in the sun or otherwise — and if you opt for Bottega’s fancy bottle of Rose Gold Brut you can add oh-so-fashionable to the mix! Fortunately this is more than a shiny bottle, it’s a Charmat Method, Pinot Nero (Noir) based sparkler redolent with red berry and lemon zest. A bubbly rosé that is easy to get into, it hits the prime metrics of fruitiness, freshness, smoothness, and fun with an evident kiss of sweetness.

Bottom line: B, Versatile wine life partner
