Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2021 

  • Sundance Head with special guests Sarah Grace & the Soul, Rapture at Lagoonfest Texas in Texas City – Enjoy your Labor Day with all-day entertainment with breakout stars from American Idol and The Voice, Sundance Head and Sarah Grace as well as Houston-natives, Rapture. Concert is included with half-day and full-day admission. Tickets start at $20. Concert begins at 2pm. Lagoon open 10am to 7pm.
  • Labor Day Monday Day + Night Party at Seaside Lounge | No Cover – Grab a few friends to party all day long at the Hennessy vs. Casamigos Day & Night Party. There will be food, hookah and live DJ’s playing a variety of hip-hop, ’90s R&B, Afrobeats and more. Free entry with RSVP. 11am to 11:55pm.
  • Labor Day Brunch at On The Kirb in Midtown | No Cover – The organic eatery and sports bar in Midtown offers a special Labor Day edition of its weekly Monday Industry Brunch. All are welcome, and service industry professionals can knock 20% off their orders. Noon to 6pm.
  • Labor Day Backyard BBQ Party at Market Square Park | No Cover – Spend your Labor Day at a classic backyard barbeque–style event. Compete head-to-head at the watermelon eating contest, play some lawn games or just enjoy a cold drink and live music in Downtown. 4pm to 7pm.
  • Meet and Dance Mondays at Henke and Pillot – Slip into your dancing shoes and learn how to bachata and salsa with the Latin Dance Factory. This beginner-friendly class is followed by a dance party to show off your new moves. RSVP is required for this event. Tickets start at $10. 7pm to 11:30pm.
  • Jeffrey Dallet in Concert at Dan Electro’s – Folk singer Jeffrey Dallet is this week’s featured artist in the Monday Singer-Songwriter Showcase at Dan Electro’s. Tickets are $6. 8pm to 11pm.

Wednesday, September 8, 2021 

  • Twin Shadow in Concert at White Oak Music Hall Promoting his newest self-titled album, indie artist Twin Shadow will be performing an acoustic solo show. Proof of vaccine or negative Covid test required for entry. Tickets are $25 in advance and $27 at the door. 7pm.
  • Summer Salt with Covey, Breakup Shoes at Warehouse Live Indie band Summer Salt will stop in Houston on their upcoming tour with Breakup Shoes and Covey. The Dallas-based duo will be performing songs from their fourth studio album, Sequoia Moon. Tickets begin at $19.99. 7pm.
  • Vinyl & Wine at MKT BAR | No Cover – Unwind at MKT BAR in Downtown on Wednesdays with a glass of wine and a charcuterie board. This weekly event features guest DJs that play their hand-picked favorites on vinyl. Wine and charcuterie specials available. 7pm to 10pm.
  • $2 Bill Two Dollar Comedy Show at the Secret Group For an inexpensive night of fun, head to the Secret Group for their weekly two-dollar comedy show. Beer and tequila specials will run during the show. Cover charge is $2. 8pm.

Thursday, September 9, 2021 

  • Samba Dance Class at Midtown Park | FREE – Learn the Brazilian partner dance, the Samba, at Midtown Park with instructors from the Brazilian Cultural Institute. All skill levels are welcome to participate and a partner is not necessary. 7pm to 9pm.
  • City and Colour in Concert at House of Blues – The Downtown venue features Canadian artist City and Colour for a live performance. Tickets range from $36 to $59.50. 7pm.
  • Movies on the Lawn: Disney’s Soul at First Colony Mall | FREE – Take a break from your day to wind down and watch Disney’s 2020 animated film, Soul, on First Colony Mall’s 21-foot screen. Grab a quick bite from restaurants surrounding the area before the show begins. 7pm.
  • Turtle Racing: Season 13 at Little Woodrow’s Midtown | No Cover – Keep tradition alive and watch a group of four-legged reptiles race for the 13th year at Little Woodrow’s. A live DJ will keep the crowd energized during the races. 8pm to 1am.

Saturday, September 11, 2021 

  • Mom Prom at SpindleTap Brewery – Ladies, take a trip down memory lane for an ’80s and ’90s–themed mom prom. There will be dancing, drinks, and someone will even be crowned as the prom queen. Bidding on the silent auction will raise money for Addi’s Faith Foundation. Tickets are $75. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Comedian Ronny Chieng at House of Blues – Ronny Chieng, known for his roles on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will be live at the House of Blues for back-to-back sets. Tickets begin at $40. 7pm and 9pm.
  • Rebelution’s Good Vibes Summer Tour 2021 with Special Guests at Bayou Music Center Vibe all evening to hypnotic tunes when Rebelution brings their all ages Good Vibes Summer Tour 2021 to Bayou Music Center in Downtown for a single show, with special guests Kabaka Pyramid, Keznamdi, and DJ Mackie. $20 to $35. 7pm.
  • Apollo Chamber Players presents With Malice Toward None at MATCH – The Apollo Chamber Players marks the beginning of its season with the world premiere of With Malice Toward None. This new work, composed by J. Kimo Williams, will tap into the philosophies of Abraham Lincoln and Ludwig van Beethoven. Tickets start at $10. 7:30pm.
  • Chante Moore in Concert at Rockefeller’s – Grammy-nominated artist, Chante Moore, will be performing her most popular hits at Rockefeller’s. Moore will be joined by R&B artist Eric Shaun and award-winning violinist Mapy. Tickets range from $75 to 80. 7:30pm.
  • Payton Howie in Concert at Dosey Doe Breakfast, BBQ, and Whiskey Bar – Country artist and California native Payton Howie will be in concert at the Dosey Doe Bar in Spring. Enjoy Saturday night with dinner and some acoustic tunes. Tickets are $15. 8:30pm.
  • The 8th Wonder Follies at 8th Wonder Distillery – There will be feather fans and laughter galore at the 8th Wonder Follies burlesque show. Prepare yourself for a night of intimate and elegant performances by Valentina J’adore, Cara Cherie, and Mara Ballerina with Zach Deville as host. Tickets are $35. 10:30pm.

Sunday, September 12, 2021 

  • Diunna Greenleaf in Concert at Jazzy Sundays at Emancipation Park | FREE – Emancipation Park Conservancy is celebrating the legacy and evolution of jazz music in Houston with its Jazzy Sundays series. Gospel singer and native Houstonian, Diunna Greenleaf, will be headlining this week’s event. 3pm to 6pm.
  • Stages presents OMG Festival: Outdoor Movies at the Gordy – Take your movie day outdoors to the OMG Festival presented by Stages. Enjoy the festival’s final screening of the weekend, Disney’s The Lion King, plus check out the vendors, food trucks and lawn games that will also be on site. Tickets are $10. 5pm.
  • Deana Carter in Concert at Main Street Crossing – The Tomball stage hosts country music singer-songwriter Deana Carter in concert. Dinner and table beverage service will be available during the show. Tickets range from $45 to $95. 7pm.
