Update, 2:20 p.m.: Providence Boulevard will be closed for 12 to 15 hours, so drivers should plan to take alternate routes for the rest of the day, according to police.
Update, 1:45 p.m.: The incident started as a hit and run on Inver Lane, according to Ross St. Louis, and it became a pursuit involving Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies. The driver turned onto Donna Drive, went through yards onto Newman Drive to Lafayette Road and then out to Providence.
CDE Lightband is on the scene working to repair the pole and lines.
The incident is being investigated by Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Update, 1:35 p.m.: Readers told Clarksville Now that the driver of the pickup truck almost hit several vehicles, swerving into oncoming traffic.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Providence Boulevard is closed in both directions near Peachers Mill Road following a crash.
At about 12:30 p.m., a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole on Providence at the Peachers Mill intersection, according to Clarksville Police Sgt. Charles Gill.

Power lines were down across the highway.
Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.
