A search is under way for a third person who may have allegedly stolen a Big Bird costume from a circus in Adelaide three months ago.
SA Police have released an image of a young woman with hopes the public can identify her. She is wanted for questioning over the theft.
After recent investigations, police have obtained CCTV and believe the previously unknown third suspect was involved.
The costume, worth $160,000, was stolen from the Sesame Street Circus Spectacular in Bonython Park between 4:30pm on April 18 and 9:30am on April 19.
At the time, the thieves dubbed themselves ‘the Big Bird Bandits’ in a note found inside the beak of the costume after it was returned to the circus on April 21.
Police were called to the scene, where officers found the bright yellow costume propped up against an electricity box.
The letter writers assured that “no harm came” to the bird and said he was a “great guy”.
“We are so sorry!!! We had no idea what we were doing, or what our actions would cause,” the letter began.
“We were just having a rough time and were trying to cheer ourselves up.
“We had a great time with Mr Bird. He’s a great guy and no harm came to our friend.
“Sorry to be such a big birden (sic)!
“Sincerely, the Big Bird Bandits.”
Cody Alain Milne, 26, and Tasman Binder, 22, fronted Adelaide Magistrates Court two weeks ago where they were granted bail and put on a show of their own for reporters outside court.
The duo were each charged with an aggravated count of dishonestly taking property without consent over the incident.
During Mr Binder and Mr Milne’s court hearing on June 30, the court heard there was a bail condition that banned the pair from attending the Sesame Street Circus.
They also could not answer when reporters asked how to get to Sesame Street.
The pair are due to reappear again in November.
Anyone who recognises the woman or has information that could help identify her is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
