COVID updates: Brisbane's lockdown ends but masks and other restrictions remain — as it happened - ABC News

Additional COVID-19 wastewater detection in Melbourne's western suburbs

Coronavirus fragments detected in a wastewater sample collected from the Altona wastewater treatment plant on Friday, March 26 has been confirmed by further analysis.

This follows the unexpected detection of viral fragments in recent days in a catchment in Melbourne's south east and a catchment in Melbourne's west.

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, is urged to get tested, especially if you live in or have visited these areas during these dates:

•    March 23 to 26 – Altona, Altona, Altona Meadows, Hoppers Crossing, Laverton, Point Cook, Seabrook, Seaholme, Williams Landing

•    March 22 to 29 – Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina and Werribee

•    March 21 to 25 – Beaconsfield, Berwick, Clyde North, Cranbourne East, Cranbourne North, Guys Hill, Hallam, Hampton Park, Harkaway, Narre Warren, Narre Warren North, Narre Warren South, Officer and Upper Beaconsfield.

Fragments of the virus detected in wastewater may be due to a person with COVID-19 being in the early active infectious phase or it could be because someone is continuing to shed the virus after the early infectious period.
