Coronavirus NSW: Hyde Park Medical Centre potentially exposed to COVID-19 - NEWS.com.au

A medical centre in Sydney’s CBD has been alerted over a possible infection scare, after two confirmed COVID-19 cases visited the clinic over a two-week window.

NSW Health issued a warning for the Hyde Park Medical Centre on the ground floor of 175 Liverpool St, with the cases there between Monday, August 24 and Saturday (yesterday), September 5.

Anyone who was there between those dates may have been exposed to coronavirus.

“NSW Health is assessing potential exposure to COVID-19 of people who attended the Hyde Park Medical Centre and physiotherapy, pathology, dermatology and dental practices and pharmacy on the ground floor of the building from Monday 24 August 2020 to Saturday 5 September 2020,” NSW Health said in a statement.

“Anyone who worked at these locations from Monday 24 August to date should get tested for COVID-19 immediately and isolate until a negative result is received.”

Patients who are close contacts will be contacted by NSW Health and told to get tested an immediately self-isolate for 14 days from the date of their last visit.

“Anyone who visited the premises should be alert and get tested for COVID-19 if they have even the slightest symptoms, and isolate until a negative result is received,” NSW Health said.

A number of close contacts of the cases have already been contacted directly by health authorities, and directed to immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days – even if they return a negative result.

A school in Sydney‘s east also announced overnight it has been forced to close after two students contracted COVID-19.

Two Year 7 students have tested positive to COVID-19, Kincoppal-Rose Bay School announced on Saturday.

“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is followed,” the school said in a statement.

“Students, their families and school staff have been informed of the infection, and the school is working closely with NSW Health to ensure they receive appropriate medical support.”

The school will be closed on Monday to allow contact tracing to be conducted and the premises to undergo deep cleaning.
