Missing persons police are investigating the reported discovery of remains in Victoria’s High Country.
Victoria Police wouldn’t comment on the investigations at Moondarra, saying only they were “active”.
“Further information will be available when it is operationally appropriate to do so,” a spokesman said.
Channel 9 reported the remains were believed to be human.
The SES was called to the area this afternoon, it reported.
Camper Russell Hill and his friend Carol Clay went missing in March after they set out to go camping in the state’s east.
Mr Hill, 74, was last heard from on 20 March on HF radio and it has been confirmed he was at Wonnangatta Station in the Victorian Alps when he made the call.
Wonnangatta Station is approximately 200km from Moondarra where police were investigating last night.
The Sunday Herald Sun is not suggesting the discover at Moondarra and the disappearance of Mr Hill and Ms Clay are linked.
Mr Hill and Ms Clay last night remained missing.
