A police operation is currently underway after a man reportedly armed with a firearm has threatened people in Macksville, on the NSW mid north coast.
9News understands the man has been seen pointing a gun at pedestrians and driving towards them.
"He is believed to be travelling between Bowraville and Macksville in a gold Mazda 323 with registration WGB 812," NSW Police said in a statement.
The public is urged to avoid Bowravilla and Macksville and call Triple Zero if they see the car.
Nambucca Heads Public School, the local primary school in the area, also issued a statement and advised children are "safely in classrooms" and that parents don't need to collect their kids.
