A dog has died after its throat was allegedly cut in the course of a domestic dispute in the early hours of Saturday morning, with a woman set to face court.
NSW Police arrested a 24-year-old woman at Surry Hills on Saturday afternoon in relation to the incident after the dog, named Rocky, died while undergoing emergency treatment at a vet.
The 13-year-old English Staffordshire Bull Terrier suffered cuts to its neck after an early morning incident at a unit in Marrickville in Sydney’s inner west, police said.
Police called to the scene found Rocky’s owner, a 44-year-old woman, attempting to treat the dog.
It will be alleged Rocky was injured during a domestic dispute.
The 24-year-old woman is alleged to have fled the scene but was found nearly 15 hours later at Surry Hills and is due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
She has been charged with torturing, beating and causing the death of an animal, two counts of stalking or intimidating intending to cause fear of physical harm, two counts of contravening an apprehended violence order, using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend and two breaches of bail.
