Former neighbours of Bradley Robert Edwards say he always came across as “creepy” and someone it appeared “sat in the dark watching ‘yuck’ on the TV”.
One neighbour to Edwards’ Huntingdale home, where he lived when he was hunting his victims revealed the day she met the now Claremont killer when he came over to introduce himself after she moved in.
“He wanted to see who was here,” Cathy said.
“The very first night we moved in he came over and knocked on the door and said, ‘I wouldn’t leave your car on the verge, we’ve had break-ins in this street’. I said, ‘OK, thank you, bye’. And he just stood there. It was odd. He wanted to see who lived here.”
Cathy described Edwards as a quiet man who they saw little of but said what they did see was at times very odd.
“I just got a sense that he was someone who sat in the dark watching ‘yuck’ on the TV,” she said.
“He spent a lot of time with the curtains closed, no light came from him, light of humanity I suppose.”
Another neighbour Maggie, who lived next door to Edwards’ most recent home in Kewdale where he was arrested in 2016, said her daughter had told her about several strange interactions she had with the now convicted killer.
“She did have a few odd situations when she was out here gardening or in the street and would just be standing metres away staring — it just seemed a bit odd,” she said.
“It just was a bit creepy that someone was there watching at odd times of the day or night.”
Maggie said it appeared Edwards’ now vacant home had been broken into and trashed since his dramatic arrest.
“People have been around to the back of the house and they have trashed the house and broken in and they have broken in to the shed,” she said.
