Dane Swan has delivered a withering attack on Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews after he extended Victoria’s lockdown.
Melbourne residents learned on Sunday they’ll spend at least another two weeks in lockdown in an attempt to further suppress a coronavirus outbreak that began months ago.
From midnight this Sunday, September 13, the city’s 8pm curfew will be pushed back an hour to 9pm (it will still cease at 5am) and the allowable outdoor exercise period will be doubled to two hours.
There will also be the introduction of a “single person bubble”, which will allow one nominated visitor if a person is living alone or a single parent with all children under 18.
But evidently that wasn’t the news ex-Collingwood star Swan was hoping to hear.
“This motherf***er is really wearing on my patience,” Swan wrote, after Andrews delivered the news.
“Gonna be a LOT of fines coming the government’s way the next couple months. The rule breaking is gonna get a lot worse whether anyone likes it or not.”
Swan received some push back to his comments — and hit back at that too.
“Hey if you don’t understand how Twitter works this is my account and I shall and will say WHATEVER the f*** I like whenever and however I like. Just like y’all motherf***ers do on your accounts. It’s not rocket surgery,” Swan wrote.
“Political twitter is hilarious. You f***ers need to relax and go watch some sport or get a massage or something.”
He then attempted to reach Andrews direct. “You reckon @DanielAndrewsMP is checking his mentions today?” he tweeted to the Premier. “Be a brave boy cause I’d imagine not a heap of superlatives coming his way and would of all been avoided if he had of not bungled hotel quarantine. Ahh well.”
Swan fears what the ongoing restrictions will mean for grand final day next month. The match is being held at night in Brisbane, forcing Victorians to watch it at home.
“And people were trying to say this season means something. Sincerely hope Brisbane win the flag this year cause it’s completely wasted on a Melbourne side. Watching the granny at home with 3 people. Lol,” he wrote.
“Gonna be tough when you have to leave your designated friends house at half time during the granny this year. Debacle.”
