A man is under police guard in hospital after a woman was found dead on a rural property in South Gippsland overnight.
Police found the woman’s body on a property at Hedley about 200km southeast of Melbourne about 2.30am on Monday.
She is yet to be formally identified.
A 43-year-old man is under police guard in hospital after he was involved in a crash in Hedley earlier in the night.
Police said the man and the woman were believed to be known to each other.
The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined with the Homicide Squad detectives investigating.
