Melbourne's new in-home COVID test

Can anyone in Melbourne get the home test?

-Testy

The at-home test is for vulnerable Victorians who cannot safely get to a testing site.

Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said some Victorians who could not get to coronavirus testing sites would be able to be tested at home for free within 48 hours.

"This is designed to ensure that approximately 200 vulnerable Victorians every day will have access to this new testing  capacity," she said.

The program will let a person call the coronavirus hotline and book a home test after being assessed by a nurse over the phone.

Why do you keep re posting the same questions and answers each day on this blog?

-Harley J

Our job is to help keep the community informed, Harley J.

If it's clear that there's a question the audience of the blog doesn't know the answer to, then we'll answer it, no matter how many times it's been asked before.

While we have some really dedicated readers who consume everything we write on here, some people just pop by for a bit and we want to make sure they get the answers to their very important questions, too.

By Yasmin Jeffery

Do you live in south-western Sydney?

If the answer to this is yes and you need to get tested for coronavirus, NSW Health has just announced the opening of two pop-up clinics.

You can take your kids out for exercise with your partner in Melbourne

I have 2 kids (4yrs & 8yrs) at home with us at the moment- Can we (Me & my wife) take our kids together out for some exercise -within 1 hr and within 5km radius of our home?

-Ben

  • If you are a parent or guardian who is caring for a young child or someone who cannot be left unattended then they may accompany you if you exercise with another person.

Melburnians cannot drive somewhere to exercise

In your answer to Daniel’s question about dog parks half an hour ago, you said that the DHHS website says “you cannot drive to exercise”. I searched for this information and couldn’t find it anywhere and even sent a couple of questions to the blog and didn’t get a response (I know you’re super busy). I am in Melbourne and I’ve been driving my kids to parks or bike tracks within 5 km to ride bikes etc. Am I breaking the rules?

-Stressed and confused

Happy to clarify.
