OAK LAWN, IL — The Children's Museum in Oak Lawn is teaming up with Ivy League Kids to offer full-day programming for children of essential workers. Children in grades K-8 will have a safe place to stay during the day while their parents are working. The program runs from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Space is limited.
Students in full or hybrid remote learning on days when their parents are working can participate in a range of activities, including e-learning assistance, sports and recreational activities, STEM education, along with arts and crafts, at the museum, 5100 Museum Drive, Oak Lawn.
"Our goal is to serve children of essential workers," said Christina Knabjian, marketing director for Ivy League Kids. "We're targeting parents who can't work from home."
Children will be grouped according to grade, with plenty of space for social distancing in the museum. Face masks are required. The cost for a full day is $50, with discounts children who attend the full week. Illinois Action for Children Childcare Assistance Program is accepted. Space is limited due to social distancing requirements.
Ivy League Kids runs before and after school programs as well as summer camps in 50 school districts throughout the south suburbs. Mokena Recreation Center is offering a similar all-day programming during the pandemic. Register online or call 815-464-1265.
