A woman is dead after she fell from the balcony of a hotel in central Sydney on Friday night, police say.
Police and paramedics were called to the Hyatt Regency hotel on Sussex Street, near Darling Harbour, following reports a woman had fallen from a balcony on the building's 10th floor about 8pm.
They found the woman's body on the level one rooftop.
The woman is yet to be formally identified, however, police believe she is aged 45.
A man, 48, who was known to the woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Day Street Police Station. He was later released pending further investigation.
A police spokeswoman said the pair were believed to be "romantically linked".
Police have set up a crime scene at the hotel for forensic examination as their inquiries continue.
Strike Force Cumulus will investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or who was in the area at the time, to come forward.
