The son of two people found dead north of Brisbane yesterday has been arrested in Sydney and will be charged with their murder.
Key points:
- The man was arrested in Sydney hours after his parents were found dead north of Brisbane
- He had been living at the Joyner home with his parents
- Queensland detectives will go to Sydney to seek his extradition on murder charges
Queensland police said the bodies of a man and woman were discovered at an address in Joyner, north of Brisbane, just before 2:00pm yesterday.
The couple, both aged 59, were found dead inside their home, police said.
At about 6.30pm last night, New South Wales Police arrested a 31-year-old man on Sydney's northern outskirts on a warrant for murder.
The ABC understands he is the dead couple's son, who had been living at home with his parents.
"Acting on information, officers from Hornsby highway patrol stopped a Toyota Rav4 travelling south on the M1 at Berowra," NSW Police said in a statement.

The man was taken to Hornsby Police Station, where he was charged with "an interstate warrant" and refused bail.
A Queensland police spokesperson confirmed this morning the man was charged "by virtue of Queensland Arrest Warrant for two counts of murder (domestic violence offence) and unlawful use of a motor vehicle".
Officers in Sydney also seized the man's car for forensic examination.
The man is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today, where Queensland detectives are expected to apply for the man’s extradition to Brisbane to face murder charges.
Investigations are continuing in both states.
