"You have a daughter of your own and young sisters, if this happened to them you would need to know what happened, if you know anything at all.
"Ricky, no matter what we're here for you, just please come forward."
Ms Barbaro, formally Anita Ciancio, is married to Mr Barbaro's father Giuseppe 'Joe' Barbaro, a cousin of gangland figure Pasquale Barbaro, who was gunned down alongside Jason Moran in a van while watching a children's football training session in Essendon in 2003.
His father and his son, both also named Pasquale, were killed in gangland hits – his father in Brisbane in 1990 and his 35-year-old son in Sydney in 2016.
In 2004 Joe and Anita's baby daughter Montana, then three weeks old, was snatched from her car seat in a Brimbank shopping centre during a brazen kidnapping.
She was found two days later with a shaved head in a derelict house in North Melbourne, after a passerby heard her cries.
Then, in 2005, Joe Barbaro was jailed for six years for his part in an illicit drug ring in Melbourne and Sydney.
In a statement sent to Nine on Saturday, Ms Barbaro recalled Joe's time behind bars.
"I know you (Ricardo), we lived together for nearly a decade when you stepped in at 16 years of age to be there for your little sisters and I when your father went to prison. You gave up your life and family to help raise your sisters," she wrote.
"Ricky, we're extremely worried about you, we're in complete disbelief."
Ms Barbaro described the death of Ms Price as a parent's "worst nightmare".
"To Ellie and her family, words cannot describe the heartache we have for you all, especially for her little boy, we can't possibly imagine how he must now face life and continue living without his mummy. There are no words that could ever be enough to tell anyone they've lost such a beautiful young life with the most horrific ending," she said.
Ricardo Barbaro, who has links to both the Gold Coast and Melbourne's north west, remains on the run. Police believe he may be driving a white Toyota Hiace van, with registration plates 1OZ 8PC.
Ms Price, an aspiring dancer, is originally from Tasmania and police believe she'd been in a relationship with the 33-year-old since about October 2019.
In November, two of Ms Price's cousins flew to Melbourne to stay with the couuple in the South Melbourne townhouse they shared.
“She would always ask us if we thought he was the right person for her, 'do you reckon he’s the one for me', she'd say," cousin Shayla said.
“We are heartbroken. There was no need to take her life."
A public appeal to help locate Mr Barbaro and the slain woman's missing white 2017 E350 Mercedes Benz, with distinctive pink number plates, was launched on Thursday and the luxury vehicle was unearthed at an acreage in Diggers Rest within hours.
The property, on Melbourne's outskirts, is linked with mafia figures who have extensive interests in the wholesale fruit and vegetable market and the horse racing industry, source told The Age.
Fugitive Ricardo Barbaro is a scion of the Barbaro crime family, an Australian branch of the Italian mafia, and brother of slain Sydney underworld boss Pasquale Timothy Barbaro, 35, who was gunned down in a 2016 gangland hit.
Anyone who might have seen or heard suspicious activity in South Melbourne's Park and Ferrars streets in the fortnight leading up to April 29, particularly on the afternoon of the 28th and into the early hours of the 29th, are urged to contact police.
Ricardo Barbaro is described as being about 185 centimetres tall with a solid build, black hair and olive complexion.
Anyone with information on the South Melbourne homicide investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit crimestoppers.com.au.
