'Shouldn't be too alarmed' but next few days 'crucial' for Victoria, says expert
Associate Professor Hassan Vally, an epidemiologist and senior lecturer in public health at La Trobe University, was just speaking to ABC News about the situation in Melbourne.
"I think in Melbourne we have been scarred by a lot of what has happened over the past 12 months so it also makes us a little on edge. It always makes us a little anxious but I think this is a very different situation right now to the beginning of the second wave. I don't think we should be too alarmed just yet but clearly the next couple of days are pretty crucial."

"You've got to understand that this is one cluster at the moment and, you know, even out of these five cases that have been identified four of them are primary close contacts. In many ways we've been ahead of the game because these primary close contacts, my understanding is they were all in quarantine when they tested positive.
"So that's a really good sign. That means the bread and butter of public health is, you know, achieving what it needs to achieve in this sort of situation and it is staying ahead of the virus.
"That gives us every optimism that we will be able to bring this cluster under control but as I say there is still a little bit of uncertainty and that is what makes us anxious. It will be interesting to see what decisions are made over the next little while and how things unfold over the next day or so."
