Two men involved in an alleged hit and run have been taken into police custody.
The crash took place in Carrum Downs, in Melbourne’s south east, on Tuesday morning.
A 44-year-old road worker was killed while his 38-year-old colleague suffered “life-changing” injuries.
The driver of the red Holden involved in the crash allegedly walked away and was picked up by a Hyundai SUV, leaving the scene.
Police on Thursday, more than two days after the crash, announced two men had been arrested.
The first, a 30-year-old man with no fixed address, was arrested at a property in Carrum Downs shortly after 2pm.
A second man was arrested after he attended Frankston Police Station just after 3pm.
The 25-year-old Carrum Downs man remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
